About the producer / region:
Unlike regions like Guji, where communities lived a nomadic lifestyle, moving their herds to grazing lands, people in Yirgacheffe have lived as settled agriculturalists for an equally long time. Agroforestry is a traditional art that has been preserved through
generations and is still broadly practiced.
While Ethiopia is hailed as the birthplace of coffee, commercialisation only began in the early 20th century. Sidamo became representative of Ethiopian coffee in the
following decades. As interest in traceability and micro-origins grew, recognition
expanded quickly, and Yirgacheffe and Aricha’s identities were established.
The Adorsi washing station is one of over 20 that Testi Coffee operates under Faysel
Abdosh’s direction. Growing up in the countryside surrounded by coffee, his
passion for crop and community took root Living among coffee farmers who are often underserved, he has made it his mission to improve the financial sustainability of coffee for those in the trade.
